                 Meet Jay Luster

     Massachusetts Wolves (ABA) – Assistant Coach 

For Jay Luster, basketball has always been more than just a game — it’s been a lifelong journey of growth, opportunity, and giving back.

A Providence, Rhode Island native, Luster’s career started in Pawtucket Rhode Island at the local boys and girls club where he was coached by his father. Luster went on to star for AAU’s Rhode Island Breakers becoming a quick crafty and very shifty guard with excellent IQ.

Luster relocated to Cape Cod during his teenage years, where he quickly made a name for himself at PHS as a soccer and basketball star in the Lighthouse Conference League before taking his talents and becoming a Cape & Islands All-Star at Nauset Regional High School where he continued to shine & help lead the soccer, basketball, and track teams to Atlantic Coast League Titles as well as a deep heavy run to the finals in the MIAA basketball tournament!

His dedication and skills earned him a chance to continue his career at Curry College, before taking his talents abroad to play professionally in Latin America, with stints in both the Dominican Republic and Colombia.

When injuries and health ending issues cut his playing career short, Luster chose not to step away from the sport he loved. Instead, he redirected his passion toward developing others — becoming a coach and scout for the ABA’s (American Basketball Association) Semi Professional Team The Massachusetts Wolves. In that role, he’s helped identify and mentor young men across New England, emphasizing not only skill development but also discipline, work ethic, and confidence.

Outside of coaching, Luster wears many hats as an event coordinator and trainer on Cape Cod, organizing basketball camps, clinics, and community events that connect athletes of all levels. Known for his leadership, positive energy, and player-first approach, Luster continues to make a lasting impact on the regional basketball scene — helping young athletes turn their dreams into goals and their goals into action.

Luster continues to play in local leagues with his close friends & family chasing championships all over New England!
